Stick it in the big blade
“Stick it in the big blade” probably a phrase that may not mean a lot to a number of you. To be honest it meant little to me the first time I heard it. It comes from the cycling community where the big blade is the bigger gear cog at the front which essentially makes is harder to pedal but when you are able to turn the pedals with efficiency it is going to see you go super fast. In other words “stick it in the big blade” means go all in, full gas!
Since I first heard the term I have thought about it a lot and the normal time when you would hear someone use this term and in cycling it’s in the heat of the battle, the final sprint or to break away from someone. It’s also another way of saying head down and go.
There are a number of times in life where I think people should just metaphorically be “sticking it in the big blade” and stop hanging around waiting for something to happen or for someone to confirm your decision. In cycling if you don’t stick it in the big blade at the right time you risk losing the breakaway or losing the race. So why not to an apply the same in life, if you see the opportunity, stick it in the big blade, if you feel it is the right time, stick it in the big blade and if you want to make a difference, stick it in the big blade.
Like in cycling and in life if you stick it in the big blade and come off second best at least you had a crack and I am sure at some stage you will win.
